This photo has been floating around Facebook for sometime and I love it. So naturally it ended up on my blog post. The picture alone resonates seeing the joy in something even when life may seem well, not so joyful. Often times we, you, me need to Just get out of our own way. I understand sometimes we may know we are hindering ourselves in life but not sure how or why. With all the positive talk go on and thriving in popularity (thank goodness) we can still tend to blame ourselves however that just keeps people stuck. Getting out of your own way takes time, takes prayer, meditation, understanding, and most of all work! So, here is a challenge. For one day take some baby steps and every time you recognize a thought or behavior that does NOT give you the desired outcome of how you want to feel take a deep breath, real deep. Breath in and breath out slowly and realize there is a degree of control each person has in creating the atmosphere of joy for the day! Just this simple technique of focusing on breathing causes enough interruption to change the emotion.
As I sit here in my office today practicing gratitude in my thinking, because thoughts matter! Most are talking about the power of thinking in this day and age. However, really how we think goes back many years, before Jesus, during His life, and after His resurrection. This life is work, but understudying the beauty of perseverance, keeping our eyes on Jesus, and aligning our thoughts for the way we want our life changes the game plan. All those thoughts of doubt and less than, just need some readjusting and the energy focused in a different direction. The direction of thoughts are energy and we must pay attention to such. God's word states, "to whom much is given, much is expected ". Where are your thoughts focused today?
Whoo Hooo.....The weekend is almost here. I hope you go out and enjoy yourself. Take a walk, read a book in a relaxing spot. Just do something that brings joy to your spirit. Really it is OK to relax admits the hustle and bustle of this life. Go create something beautiful, share smiles with strangers, and hug your loved ones. All of these things I mention raise the serotonin in the brain and help you feel better! Commit to at-least one thing this weekend that will bless others and you!
What does happy look like, feel like, have we put happy in a box as a destination? Is happy a certain way, I do not think so, if you are waiting to , "just be happy", your missing it. Life is made up of ups, downs, joy, sadness, all these elements are part of happy. I am not talking about when chemical imbalances are in place, which may are may not need treated with medicine, that is for the individual to decide, BUT if you are saying to yourself and others, "I just want to be Happy", then get happy, get with your God given destiny and shine in the glory of your creation, if you do not like your life, change it, yes change it, all we have is NOW.
Loss and grief comes in different forms. We have loss of friends and loved ones through many different forms. Friends move on, accidents, marriages end, and so forth. Some handle loss different than others. Some people process losses in life differently. There is also intrapsychic losses. These losses occur when how we view ourselves undergoes change. This happens many times after losses and manifest in different ways. Such as low self esteem and loss in sense of direction in life. Know that God is always with you and having the knowledge that these feelings mentioned have places in the stages of loss and grief can bring relief. May your day be filled with the knowing that you are an amazing child of God.
In the hardest of times leaning on the scripture James 4:8 draw night to God and He will draw nigh to you becomes an amazing way to break free of self defeating thoughts. The Holy Scripture reminds the reader that they, "YOU" are NOT alone. Just taking the time to view nature and its beauty can redefine how the day is going. Sometimes this is easier said than done, but it works. What can you do today to reconnect with nature and find God in all the beauty?
